Nothing sweeter....

It is so true what they say. There is NOTHING sweeter than a sleeping baby.

These feet are made for RUNNING!

It is amazing to witness the transformation of Griffin. Just one short week ago he was still very uncertain of his footing. He held on to our hands or objects as long as possible. He waddled around with arms stretched out rushing to the next thing that he could grab onto. Overnight his confidence bloomed from an unsure baby to a running toddler. His only mode of transportation right now is by foot. No more crawling or strolling for this big guy. What an honor to watch the evolution of baby to boy right before our very eyes.

Feet don't fail me now

Griffin was on a mission today. That mission was to WALK! As I was getting him dressed this morning I thought about a particular pair of shoes that was forgotten for a bit. (side note the child has A LOT of shoes thanks to my dear friend Greta) I only thought about the shoes because they would look cute with the outfit that I put on him. He has worn the shoes quite a bit before, but only while crawling. I like to put them on him because I can hear him squeak around the house which keeps him from "crawling under the radar." The shoes that I am referring to are wee squeaks. They have little squeakers in the heels and when the child walks they squeak. Today you would think that these shoes had super power strength. When he stood up and realized the capabilities of his wheels he went nuts. There was no stopping the little guy. No ifs, ands, or buts~ Griffin was walking! It was so fun to watch the determination of the little guy. I quickly took a few pictures en route from getting him dressed to getting myself dressed. In all of Griffin's awesomeness he walked into school today with me for the first time. I mentioned in a previous post that his walking abilities brings out a "tude." He walked straight back to the lunch area for his 2nd meal/breakfast of the day. (I always feed him first thing in the morning, but once again as I mentioned in a previous post the boy likes to eat) He sat down at the big boy and girl table and did not want to sit in the toddler table where he sits everyday. One of his classmates was having breakfast at the toddler table and Griffin was showing off something fierce. In cajun we would say that he was acting fa-chock. (to show off) It was hysterical to watch. He wanted Bryce to see that he was at the big boy table and was acting silly. Both Griffin and Bryce were giggling at how funny Griffin was being. He is growing up so quickly. I love watching him every step of the way. I am and always will be his biggest cheerleader. Go Griff!!

15 months

Today our sweet baby is 15 months old. In honor of 15 months of life I will start out with 15 things that I love so much about you:

1. That you are our first born. There will be more, but only one 1st.

2. The way that you eased us into parenthood. You are the best baby.

3. The way that you giggle and it comes all the way from your toes.

4. The way that you may not call my name often, however when you are in a pickle Ma-ma is on the top of your list.

5. The fact that you LOVE to eat and are open to exploring new foods.

6. Every time you find a phone you put it to the back of your head and yell in an outside voice da-dee! You only feel the need to call Da-dee on the phone.

7. You are a good sleeper AND napper.

8. The way that you never tire of pat-a-cake and peek-a-boo.

9. Your adventurous and independent nature. (can you say climb and dig 24/7?!?)

10. You love a good party.

11. The way that you cuddle and want your ma-ma when you are not feeling well.

12. Your sense of style. At 15 months old you already have an opinion on which shoes are your favorites. (that would be an ugly pair of sandals AND a pair of Air Jordans- clearly your taste differs from Mommys. ;) )

13. Your Da-dee is your hero. You never tire of his silly antics.

14. The way that you back up your tiny hiney to sit on my lap. You melt me.

15. The fact that God specifically put you in our lives. God is a pretty smart guy because you are the perfect fit for our little family of 3.

This month Griffin is really coming into his cute little personality. He decided to start walking on May 23 which is my birthday. Happy birthday to me! He woke up that morning with a burning desire to run. It is so funny because once he started walking he also developed a new little attitude. I guess it is his new sense of independence. He is getting better at walking ever day. We went to a birthday party last weekend and he was walking more than ever. He was honestly showing off all of his skills to the other kids. You are such a joy and a blessing to us. We love you more and more with each new day.

I'm here~ now the party can begin.

Yesterday we went to a 2nd birthday party for Griffin's friends Brea and Noah. Kenton and I had such a good time watching Griffin "play" with all of the kids. He honestly entered the room with the attitude of Griffin's here time to have fun! He was non-stop from start to finish. The party was at this cute little place in Mandeville, Ducky Joe's. It was one of those bounce places, but also had much more to offer. At one point Griffin was playing in the play house eating a plastic chicken leg and just got up and walked out of the house. Kenton and I just looked at each other like did he really just stand up and walk out? He has been walking here and there, but has never walked as much as he did yesterday. He just had so much confidence and wanted everyone to see what he could do. I was careful not to hover over Griffin while he played and to give him his independence all the while closely watching him. He is not the gentlest of men and has a way of charging at you and is not afraid to take a few kids down with him. I am happy to announce that he had a great time at the party and no one was hurt by his overzealous spirit. It truly makes my heart so happy to watch him grow and develop into his own little personality.

Round 1 went to..... the other guy

Yesterday I received the dreaded call from day care. Anytime the number shows up on the caller ID my heart skips a beat. They were calling to warn me that Griffin had been bitten by another child. They wanted to let me know before I saw him. Poor little guy was fighting over a rocking horse with another child and the bruiser bit him under the eye. The bite actually broke the skin. Today he not only has a fang mark, but also a black eye. I know that this will be the first of many bumps, scrapes, and bruises so hopefully the next will be easier.... Apparently as a child I was also a biter. I apologize to all of the children and parents that were traumatized by my actions. ;)

Point Clear, Alabama

This past weekend we spent a few days with the Vicknair's at the Grand Resort in Point Clear, Alabama. We all had a ball~ adults and kiddos! The twins, Noah and Brea, are 9 months older than Griffin. All of the children were very well behaved, it was a joy! It was so cute to see Brea playing with "the baby". We all know that Griffin has a thing for the ladies and at one point he was so mesmerized by her that he even handed her over his paci! It was a little chilly, but we powered through. You only go on vacation a few days out of the year~ right?!? Griffin was stuck on Kenton as if they were held together by glue. He is ALL about his daddy right now. They played together in the pool all day. They even went down the big slide quite a few times. Kenton put him in a little raft/boat and Griffin was such a show off. He was giggling and waving to everyone like a rock star. The grounds of the resort were beautiful. Our last morning there we took Griffin bike riding through the resort and down the boardwalk. The town of Point Clear is gorgeous. We admired all of summer homes with huge oak trees and huge back porches along the bay. A good time was had by all!
