Secret Agent birthday party Griffin 6, Roman 4

It's birthday time again!!
I love to celebrate BIG with my boys.
This year we had a "secret agent" theme for Griffin (6) and Roman's (4) birthday party.
This was a fun party to plan and the kids had a "blast!"
Moms later told me that their kids stayed "in character" long after the party ended!
Success!  I love opening up the kids imaginations...

I was working on several projects at once and didn't fully pull the party together until the day before.
I must say that it was one of my all time favorite birthday parties!

The crime scene set up

Caution: enemy spies ahead!
Secret agents or blues brothers?
You decide...

The agents had to solve "the mystery of the missing cupcake."
(insert dramatic music)

First I handed out credentials and fingerprinted the agents.
Griffin- AKA  "Secret Agent Superhero"
Roman- AKA "Secret Agent Bacon Boy"
Cohen- AKA "Secret Agent Giggles"
Agent Superhero making sure we kept to the schedule
Agent Superhero with his girl Agent Saucy Pants
Agent Giggles woke up from a nap not so giggly...

Mission 1- pass the dynamite.
It was a "blast"

Mission 2- detonate the bombs to find the clue
Mission 3- Get past the laser field

Mission 4- speed and agility course
Slide down the slide and run through the cones.
Mission 5- X ray vision
What is in the box based on touch alone?

I love the smiles.
Mission 6- "Egg-tract" the clues.
Find the clue in the hidden egg.

Mission 8- crack the code for the final destination

Mission complete!  The cupcake has been located.
Thanks to all of the agents and next up is
"operation happy birthday"

Happy birthday Roman!
Dream BIG my baby...
Happy birthday Griffin!
Dream BIG my baby...
The rest of the afternoon was filled with FUN!
The kids had so much fun with the staches.
Nothing like a kid in a mustache!!!

Awesome with a capital "A"

Back away folks, just working a crime scene...
Nothing to see here folks!

I had so much fun and I know that the kids did too!
The boys are already talking up themes for next year.
Can't wait to see what we dream up next!

Roman Wade "4"

My dearest Roman,

I always want for you to know how special you are to me.  From the first moment that I looked at you it was love at first sight.  I am so blessed to be chosen as your Momma!  Your little personality is evolving.  You are really shy and don't like to be the center of attention.  I pray that you grow to be comfortable in your skin.  You are my middle baby and are deserving of a little extra love and attention.  You are a Momma's boy and enjoy tagging along with me to run errands and grocery runs.

You are active and love to be involved in our everyday work.  You don't have much interest in television.  You would prefer to cut the grass with daddy or bake with mommy.  I pray that you always keep such a strong work ethic.  This quality will take you far in life.

You are a boy with many interest.  You love working and also people who work.  You love music, (favorite songs are Amazing Grace, You never let go, and Sing Sing Sing) superheroes just like your big brother, John Deere tractors, and garbage trucks.  I mean you REALLY love garbage trucks.  You also really love to have fun!  I love nothing more then to watch you at a party.  Your smile lights up my world!  I adore your sweet spirit!  You play well with others and you love your brothers.  You are smart, you are kind, and you are really funny!  You speak so well and your vocabulary blows us away!

This past year we have had our challenges.  Boy, you have a will of steel!  I like to say that you take after your Daddy and he says you take after me!  Either way, your steel will comes from your daddy!  ;)  You sometimes get embarrassed and have a really hard time redirecting.  When this happens we pray over you and your Daddy puts on Amazing Grace.  Jesus has a way of calming your spirit and the music soothes your soul.  You are so special and God has great plans for you!

I can not wait to see what next year has in store for you.  However, would you stop growing up SO QUICKLY!?!  Four years has happened in a blink of an eye.  Whatever God has in store for you it is bound to be special because YOU are special.  Always know how deeply loved that you are.  Today and always, "you're a good boy and will do great things in this world..."

All my love,
Mommy

911 what seems to be your emergency...

One evening Kenton was working late.  The boys were all quietly playing and I sat down for a quick and uneventful dinner.  I noticed Cohen playing with the house phone.  The thought in my head was, "that may not be the best idea, but he is being really good.  Leave him alone.  When was the last time you had a meal in relative quiet?"  So, I left him alone.  He played with the phone for quite some time.  (When Cohen plays with the phone he is really funny.  He mimics me on the phone.  He holds it up to his ear, chatters away, and walks around the house. Right.... just like his Momma!)

As I was putting the dishes away I saw 2 police cars pull up to the front of our house.  There was also a knock at the door. {GULP...}  I looked out the front door and saw 3 armed police men standing there and looking in.

Police man #1- "Ma'am is everything okay?"
Me- "Yes sir everything is fine."
Police man #1- "Someone from this residence placed a call to 911.  Are you SURE you are alright?"
Me- (I was screaming in my head "LARRY!!!") "Oh yes sir.  The baby was playing with the phone and must have called 911? (how in the heck does a baby call 911.  It is not like he knows his numbers much less has the ability to dial the proper numbers in the correct order to notify the police to come to our home!!  Perhaps he is a child prodigy?  Are a major drama stirrer?!? Jeeze...)

As this conversation was happening at the front door I could hear Roman yelling from the bathroom.  As the time spent with the police officer continued his voice began to elevate.  The sound screaming from the bathroom was, "MMMOOOOMMMM WIPE MY TAIL!"  I heard these demands loud and clear.  I would have to believe that the officers did too.

Moments later Police man #2 busted out in a snorted laugh.  He said, "Ma'am, he doesn't have any clothes on."  At that point Police man #1, and Police man #2 joined in on the giggles.  I turned around to see Roman standing in the living room fully in the nude.  Awesome...

Police man #1 proceeded to say, "looks like you have your hands full."  Indeed I do.  Indeed I do!!!

LARRY....

My little music man

Roman loves music.
I mean really loves music.

He picks up songs quickly and you can hear him singing around the house.
His current favorite songs are:
Amazing Grace, You never let go, and Glory to God.
This boy sings his little heart out.

He often walks around the house, strums his guitar,
and makes up songs.
Trust me when I say that he sings with much expression.

He is also quite a fan of live music.
He often sneaks into big church with us to listen to the band.
He also loves to go visit grand-ma at the assisted living facility when the band plays.

I pray that he continues to love music and eventually learns to play an instrument.
He often tells me out of the blue that he loves horns and the drums.
I so enjoy watching this boy grow.
I can't wait to see who he becomes.
It has been laid on my heart that he is destined for greatness.
"He is a good boy and will do great things in this world."

One of my favorite all time pictures of him.

Here he is singing his little heart out.
I have visions of him becoming a tattooed worship leader.
Only time will tell!
