Fat Tuesday~ not your ordinary "Tuesday"

Mardi Gras...
You either get it or you don't...
You either love it or hate it.

NOLA proud to call it home!

Mardi Gras Day 2011

Happy Mardi Gras y'all!
Loaded up and ready to go

Wanna ride?

Heading to the Mardi Gras...

Too cool not to capture!

Watching Rex on St. Charles Avenue

Throw me something Mister!

Hey Mardi Gras!  Get them hands up...

Fancy... "even our trees have bling."

Mardi Gras feet...

Roman and his VIP seating.
Dressed to impress

See you again next year!

Griffin who?

Griffin?
Griffin who??
I'm afraid you must have the wrong guy...
My plan is to keep G in "disguise" until Friday in hopes that
"THREE" does not find him.

Three years old already...
Say it isn't so!

Small town LA Mardi Gras

Born and raised in small town southern Louisiana
it was always something that we "did."

Mardi Gras to me is not "girls gone wild," like the media leads you to believe.
It is about families spending time together.
Seeking out the perfect spot
and setting up house for the day.
Soaking up the sun and sharing the experience with 1,000,000 of your closest friends.

Just for a day
that plastic bead and prized doubloon
seem so important.

I am happy that I am now sharing in the revelry
with my family.

What a treat
to take in the sights,
dance to the marching bands,
and watch the floats roll by...

Me and my boys...

Roman enjoyed his
reserved seating.
Griff and Satch
waiting on the parade.

Mardi Gras~ VIP style

I heart this man.
Griff loving on Shelia.

Today was a success.
We had a really good time
and are looking forward
to Fat Tuesday!

Fancy shoe reunion

This morning I was getting dressed to go to a parade.
G went into my closet and brought out my fancy shoes for the day.
He said, "Here Mommy tchoes to wurk."
(Here Mommy shoes to work)
His fancy shoe selection for me was the furry leopard pair to the left.
I had to laugh.
What IN THE WORLD does my child think that I do for a living.

I bought these shoes many moons ago.
I like to pull them out for a night out on the town with Satch.
I have the perfect little black dress to accompany the shoe.

It just so happens that:
(a) a night out on the town with Satch
and
(b) the perfect little black dress
do not exactly come out to play very often.

Until that day,
they wait for me on the shelf...
with a entirely too many few of their closest friends.
 Okay,
so I may be responsible for my son
and his fondness of shoes...
 Ummmm,
yeah....
I have to keep stepping back
in order to show
the whole truth.
Why in the world does a person need so many pair of shoes?
That is a very good question!
The beauty of the shoe...
they are a great way to accessorize
and pregnant, or not
your feet stay true to size.

Rain on my parade...

We knew it was coming.
The meteorologists warned us all week.
BUT,
Surely they were wrong...

We packed up this morning
and headed down the bayou for the parade.

After a round trip
BACK HOME
I guess those news guys were onto something.

Once home the parade decided to roll....
Through our kitchen.
Featuring Satch as the Grand Marshal,
King Griff
and Prince Roman...

WAIT....
This parade is missing something.
The marching bands!
Bring on the instruments.

All of the parading fun even brought
Uncle Al out of retirement
(for a minute)
The Mardi Gras is just too strong to resist...

A little rain
did
not
dampen this parade.

King of Carnival

Today Griff and his classmates had a parade at school.
As soon as I walked in King Griff was so proud of his newly acquired "loot."

The boys were proudly wearing their "King" crowns
while the girls donned their "Queen" tiaras.

I proudly present to you
the royal court.

Once home our art project of the day were Mardi Gras masks
for Griff and Ro-sky.
We finished our masks just in time
to crank up the music
and parade around the house.

I sure hope that my boys enjoy Mardi Gras
as much as their Momma.
AND the Daddy too!

Momma time

Today I got together with some of my favorite Mommas
for a little Momma time!

It is always a pleasure to get together
to chat about life, love, and babies...

Here we are gathered around the kitchen table
just like Mommas and friends do.

I am proud to say that we are doing our part to re-populate this city,
one beautiful baby at a time!

Here are our newest beauties
destined to be friends
born one day apart...
Parker

Vivienne

Thank goodness for these two lovely ladies.
Due to the unusually large number of boys
I was beginning to wonder if we were heading towards extinction.

Glad that my child makes himself comfy where ever he may be~
even if it is inside the end table.
Adorable Emma.... no longer the only one in pink.
Luke... no words for this cuteness.
Don't you want to give him a squeeze?
I'm pretty sure Apple will be calling me for the rights of this picture.
Steve.... call me. ;)

Roman... the ultimate crumb catcher.
Giggles and a belly full of crumbs.
Becca stealing a kiss from Evan.
Looking lovely as ever with a bun in the tum.
Momma and sweet Vivi.
Awesome job venturing out with 2!
Peek a-boo...
I see you! Nacho Libre?
WORE OUT= a good time!

Thanks to Kristy for letting us wreck hang out at your house.
As always you are such a gracious hostess
with such a warm and happy home!
