Advent Calendar. Week 1 recap

This year I put together our first Advent Calendar, or "the chart" as the boys call it.
I gave this project a little thought before throwing it together.
I wanted to fully engage in the Christmas season.
The only stipulation with the advent calendar?
No gifts were to be given.
This project was fully centered around
LIVE. GIVE. LOVE.

I have our daily activities ready to go ahead of time, but I don't stuff the envelope until the night before. I figured that would make the project flexible to accommodate our schedule.

Each morning the boys look forward to opening an envelope to see what the day has in store for us.
Here is our first week in review:

25. Special time with Daddy.  Big boys go on a Daddy date.
Kenton took the big boys out to bang on instruments at Best Buy, pizza for lunch at his favorite spot- NY pizza, Children's Museum to cook in the kitchen, they caught a Christmas parade, and went back to the Children's Museum for round 2.  Boys had a ball!

24. Family Fun. Get ready for a ROAD TRIP!
After church we loaded up and headed to Baton Rouge for the afternoon.
We went to the DZ House for Sundaes with Santa. WIN. Lots of individual time with Santa without having to fight the mall crowd.

23. Learn more about Christmas. Read the Christmas story in the Bible.
I read the Christmas story to the boys. They then set up the manager which worked as a great visual.
They really enjoyed this and Griff now asks me each night to repeat the story and then they play with the manger.

22. Spread Christmas Cheer. Make cards for family and friends.
They boys made Christmas cards to mail out.  They mailed cards to Brea, Brody, and Noah, Tio John, The Godfather and Phoebe, and Aunt Rita. (because she is sick)

21. Happy birthday Daddy. Celebrate and eat cake!
We loved on Daddy as we celebrated his birthday.

20. Special time with Mommy. Bake Christmas cookies.
Boys love to help out in the kitchen. We baked a cake together which
I later made into cake balls.

19. Love your neighbor. Deliver cake balls to neighbors.
After school I gave the boys each a Santa hat and drove around the neighborhood to deliver baked goods.  They got out at each house and rang the door bell to wish our neighbors a Merry Christmas.
(this was my favorite activity and the boys REALLY enjoyed it too)
