Griff's 1st class trip

This week I was able to go with Griff on his class field trip.  This is one of those things that I have been waiting my entire life a very long time to do. Leading up to the field trip I honestly don't know who was more excited!

Not only was I able to go on the field trip I was also able to observe him for the first time in his class room setting.  I walked into the room and watched from the back.  He had no idea I was there.  He participated and sat obediently in his place.  He was the class "leader" that day.  He was really excited about this and told me about the day before.  His teacher, Ms. L,  called him to the front and he was able to use the pointer and go over the daily activities.  I honestly fought back a tear or two.  He was so proud of his responsibility for the day.  The look of pride was beaming from his face.  He acted with a level of maturity that I have never witnessed before.  I am so happy that I was there to witness him in this leadership position.  He did great and I could not be prouder of my big boy!  He then walked over to the star on the floor and led the class to the the bus.  Let the fun begin!

He boarded the bus and I was a little nervous that he would have flash backs of our only other bus experience. (tumble bus )  I am happy to report that he was all smiles.  I grabbed a seat next to my favorite 4 year old and we rolled out. The smile on his face was too much for me to handle.

He could not stop smiling.
Therefore I could not stop smiling.
I love this boy so very much...
Once we reached the pumpkin patch Griffin, the line leader, led us off the bus.  First we learned a little about pumpkins and how they grow.  Side note* I am so impressed with these kids.  These children are only 4 years old and were very well behaved.  I must also say that I am even more impressed with the teachers.  Ms. L and her assistant Ms. Lu do a fabulous job with these kiddos.  Ms. L is very consistent and even keeled with her students.  Seriously, she maintained total control of twenty 4 year olds and never once raised her voice.  Both of these teachers truly have a gift...

The students lined up against the fence while
receiving their lesson on pumpkins.

Fun times at the pumpkin patch.

My big boy even humored me and let me follow him around
and take his picture.

Our next stop was the fire station next door to learn a little about fire safety.  The students learned a lesson on "what to do" in case of a fire.  After that they were able to shake hands with a real life fire fighter.  Cool stuff!

Next they were able to try on
a real fire jacket.

They then walked through the fire station and were able to "ooooh and aaaah" over a real life fire truck!

Next they were able to board a fire truck and give it  a look up close.

Now for the highlight of Griff's day.  They were each given a turn to spray the fire hose.  Pure bliss in the eyes of a child!

Favorite moment of the day right here!
My awesome little line leader!
Following the fire station we walked over to Papa John's for a tour of the facility and some yummy pizza for lunch!

During the tour the pizza maker started throwing the pizza dough in the air.  I sure hope Griff doesn't expect the same pizza tossing skill at home. :)

After a fun filled morning we loaded the bus and headed back to school.  Griff was sitting in the front seat with a friend.  When he saw me he said, "Mommy I will sit with my friend Eli."  Nothing would please me more!  I am so proud of my big boy.  I just love to watch him grow and mature before my very eyes...
