We packed up and headed home from our stay in the French Quarter. We stopped on the way home and had breakfast at The Waffle House. The boys still talk about their waffles. Can you say easily impressed!?!? Once home they suited up in their hats and aprons to bake cookies for Santa. For the record I believe peanut butter is his favorite... ;)

We followed our family tradition and attended church on Christmas Eve. After a lovely church gathering we headed down the bayou to celebrate with Big Poppa's side of the family. Lots of people, lots of noise, lots of presents and paper flying. Exactly as I remember it as a little girl.

Opening gifts at "Grandma's" house. We all call my grandmother "Ma." For some reason Griff started calling her "Grandma." It makes me giggle... |
Roman showing his gifts to "Grandma." |
About 20 minutes into the 45 minute car ride home Roman threw up in the car. Awesome. Nothing like a little vomit in the car seat to give you the warm and fuzzies... Once home Griff was sound asleep. We got Roman out and cleaned him up and put him to bed. Unfortunately we did not get MiMi to read the Cajun Night Before Christmas just like she always does. Too much excitement, a touch of sickness, and a late night put the boys straight to bed.
A picture after Santa made a stop at our house. Santa forgot a receipt and for $38.50 he delivered lots of fun for our boys. This year we focused on Give. Live. Love rather than gifts. Earlier in the year I started to hear more "I wants" than I was comfortable with. We never really "asked" what the boys wanted for Christmas. Griff mentioned a Power Ranger, but we never pursued the question. On Christmas morning when Griff squealed in delight after discovering his bounty from Santa he said, "Wow... thanks! I got everything that I wanted from my list."
The gifts that were purchased for $38.50 were just the icing on the cake. The experiences that we shared over the month were priceless.
